Plan Your Future |

Of the four temperaments, Planners are the most rare, accounting for less than 10% of the population. These people form the bridge between the Dreamers and the Doers. The Dreamers and Doers by their very nature are in conflict. It is the Planners who connect the other two. The Planners can take the emotionalized inspiration of the Dreamers and conceptualize it with systems planning and their ability to speak and write clearly. The Doers then can relate to a plan of action whereas they can’t relate to a "pie-in-the sky" dream. A Dreamer will see the forest and the Doer will work at chopping a path through the forest, though it is the Planner that will mark the trees in most efficient path. Once the Planner has properly sequenced a plan of action and broken down the goal into specific steps, then the Doer can be most efficient is taking each task and making each happen. By Myers-Briggs definition Dreamers are NT. The manner in which they prefer to gather data leans more to the side of "iNtuitive" than "Sensing." That is they look at abstractions and possibilities. Planners make prefer to decisions by being more "Thinking" than "Feeling." They tend to look more at the bare facts and less about the feelings of those affected.
Planners are an important part of a successful change team and must not be overlooked.
At the "C" level of a company there is not usually a Chief of Planning. Someone should have that role.
Maybe the Founder or CEO is the Dreamer, the Senior Vice Presidents are the Doers and the President is the Planner.
However your company or change team is organized, make sure you have Planners alongside the Dreamers and Doers.
